First of all, what is Japan Rail pass?
The japan rail pass is a ticket jointly sold by six JR companies for foreigners visiting Japan. It is a very economical ticket and is worth more than the price. This ticket can only be purchased by non-Japanese nationals.

Prescribed documents are required to receive a ticket.
- In order to receive or use JAPAN RAIL PASS, your passport must bear this stamp or sticker.
- You cannot get a stamp and sticker like the one on the right at the automated gate at the airport, so you must ask a staff member to do so.

First, you will purchase this ticket on the official website, at a sales agent, or upon arrival in Japan. Whichever method you use, you will receive your ticket at the main station or airport upon your final arrival in Japan. You can choose a 1-week, 2-week, or 3-week ticket. There is also an option to ride in the Green Car. You can take all JR trains except for a few. (The picture on the left is an image of a green car.
